The next delivery of a huge bit of kit for a substation is coming our way – and will cause big problems on our roads.
It’s all part of the Yorkshire Green energy project, to upgrade the electricity network.
The latest 200-tonne supergrid transformer is being delivered to the Overton substation on Sunday (5 October).
It will leave Teesport Docks at 7am, and move via the A174 and A19.
The transformer will travel southbound on the A19, past Thirsk, Thormanby and Shipton before arriving at Overton Substation on Overton Road.
It’s due to arrive at Overton near York between 11.45am and 12.15pm.

The National Grid said: “Some unavoidable disruption is expected as a rolling road closure will be in place in some areas, and temporary parking restrictions may be required.
“In addition, temporary alterations to items such as road signs and street furniture may have to be made at some locations to enable the convoy to complete its journey.”
The final supergrid transformer is expected to be delivered on Sunday 26 October.
