Emergency services were called after a car crashed into a lamppost early this morning (Wednesday).
It happened on the A168 near Thirsk at 12.37am.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Thirsk responded to a driver who had lost control of their vehicle and struck a lamppost.
“It was believed the vehicle had started to smoke but on arrival crews found no sign of fire.
“Crews isolated the battery using small tools only to make the scene safe for police.”
