Crews tackle shed blaze and two deliberate fires in York

A shed went up in flames in York last night (Saturday).

Firefighters were called to the incident on Tadcaster Road at 6.06pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from York and Acomb responded to reports of a shed on fire. The shed was well alight and crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down.”

They also went to two fires believed to have been started deliberately last night.

The first was a small grass fire in the open on Knavesmire Road at 5.43pm. It was out on arrival.

Then, at 8.42pm a crew from Acomb went to a fire of paper and wood materials started in the open at Old School Walk off Beckfield Lane.

They put it out using a knapsack sprayer.
