Updated: Two people hurt in A64 crash – One airlifted to hospital

A serious crash closed a section of the A64 this morning (Monday, 2 March)

Three vehicles collided on the eastbound carriageway near High Hutton, west of Malton.

National Highways said the A64 eastbound was closed between the A1237 York North and the junction with the A169. It has now reopened.

One person was trapped in their vehicle. A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used cutting equipment to remove the side door and release the occupant who was taken to hospital via air ambulance.

“The occupant of one of the other vehicles was taken to hospital via road ambulance.”

A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received an emergency call at 7.25am this morning to report a road traffic collision on the A64 between Whitwell-on-the-Hill and High Hutton.

“A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene, including two ambulances and the air ambulance, and two patients were conveyed to hospital.”

Earlier, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are at the scene of a serious collision on the A64 near High Hutton in the Malton area.

“The road is currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route.”
