Child bitten by dog at school gates in Knaresborough

Police are trying to trace the owner of a dog which bit a child outside a North Yorkshire school.

It happened last Wednesday (13 March) as parents were collecting their children from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Tentergate Road, Knaresborough, at the end of the day.

The child was bitten by a dog that was tied to a fence at the entrance to the school.

The child was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Dog owners are urged take responsibility for their pets.

“Please do not leave dogs tied up and unattended around school premises near where young children may be playing.”
