A car burst into flames in a car park in Helmsley last night (Wednesday).
Firefighters went to the incident on Ashwood Close at 6.52pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Helmsley and Easingwold attended a hybrid vehicle fire within a car park.
Ashwood Close, Helmsley
“The vehicle’s battery was smoking and went into thermal runaway.
“Crews continued to monitor this for some time using a thermal imaging camera whilst fighting the fire with a hose reel jet and water curtain.”
