A Yorkshire strongman is set to take on his biggest challenge so far.
Strongman Stuart Lambert, from Market Weighton, is attempting his heaviest challenge yet this weekend – to pull a 64 tonnes train.
The attempt will take place at East Yorkshire’s only heritage railway, Yorkshire Wolds Railway, on Sunday 19 July. The challenge will begin from 12:30pm, with the public invited to watch and cheer Stuart on.

Stuart was also crowned Charity Fundraiser of the Year at our 2026 YorkMix Hero Awards, with his nomination stating that he “goes above and beyond initiating original challenges to test himself while always providing for others.”
Last year, he challenged himself to lift a skip, and this year it’s something slightly bigger…
“I’ve pulled various things in the past from lorries, fire engines, tractors, monster trucks, and I’m basically wanting to tick different boxes of various vehicles and ridiculously sized things that I can try and do,” Stuart told YorkMix breakfast presenter Leigh.
“So I decided a train was going to be definitely going to be up there. It’s going to be my heaviest challenge to date – it’s a total weight of 64 tonnes.”
He will attempt to single-handedly haul locomotive ‘Sir Tatton Sykes’ and freight wagons along the tracks at the Yorkshire Wolds Railway, near Fimber.
Talking about how he prepares for this kind of challenge, Stuart said that “with the mental sort side, because I have experience in the Strongman world and competing, I just get back in the zone of focusing on what I’m doing.
“I’ve got the technique to a certain degree, and it’s just a lot of gym training. Outside of the gym, I own my own harness and rope and things. So I’ll be doing things like pulling my van with the handbrake on and things like that, just to replicate the movement.”
In addition to the challenge, there will also be brake van rides and the railway shop Buffers will be open selling teas and coffees.
