Police have launched an investigation after two people sleeping rough in Scarborough were targeted.
The man and woman had what is believed to be an irritant thrown at them in the Ramshill Road area of the town.
It happened at around 2.30am this morning (Wednesday).

The victims were taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries that are not believed to be serious.
One woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “An extensive investigation is ongoing to trace any other suspects believed to be involved.
“All three emergency services were involved in the incident which led to two areas of the town – Ramshill Road and Northway – being cordoned off and road closures put in place.
“Our thanks go to members of the public who assisted at the scene and to the local community for their patience while the road closures remain in place.”
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.
