Top-rated North Yorkshire holiday park sold after 50 years in the same family

A well-known North Yorkshire holiday park has been sold.

Wayside Holiday Park, a five-star rated caravan park near Pickering, has been a family-owned destination for over 50 years, operated by three successive generations.

It has now been sold for an undisclosed sum

The property comprises 160 pitches across 19.5 acres.

It’s found on the western outskirts of Wrelton, “with outstanding access to the North York Moors National Park, the Howardian Hills National Landscape and the Yorkshire coastline, making it one of the most attractively positioned parks in the north of England”, said Colliers, who handled the sale.

The sale includes a three-bedroom detached bungalow, an three-acre paddock offering expansion potential, and a new lakeside development, Water Gardens, completed in 2023.

Mark Goodson, from Wayside, said: “After more than 50 years of our family pouring our hearts into Wayside, this was not an easy decision.

“We are proud of what we have built across three generations and take great comfort in knowing the park is passing to new hands who will continue to invest in and grow this special place. We wish the new owners every success.”

Richard Moss, head of UK parks agency at Colliers said: “Wayside is exactly the kind of asset that generates strong interest, a highly established, well-located and consistently performing holiday park with significant potential for further growth.

“The combination of strong infrastructure, high occupancy and recent investment into premium lakeside pitches made this a particularly attractive proposition. We are proud to have advised on the transaction.”
