Rowntree Park reopens after high water problems

Rowntree Park has reopened today (Thursday) after being shut all day yesterday.

All areas of the park are accessible and safe.

It was shut yesterday because “the increased river levels impacted on the controls for the water supply to the park lake, which meant that the lake flooded onto the paths in the park,” explained Ben Grabham, head of environmental services at City of York Council.

There is no sign of the flooding near the lake, which looks to have been given a good clean-up.

Lots of families were back enjoying the park this morning, as was a squirrel who found something enjoyable to eat in a bin.
