York's LGBTQ+ Rugby Team Invites New Players to Discover the Sport
The York RI Templars, York's LGBTQ+ inclusive rugby team, are inviting people across York and North Yorkshire to take part in a free Introduction to Rugby session on Monday 22nd June at 7pm at York RI Rugby Club, New Lane, York.
Whether you've never picked up a rugby ball before, haven't played since school, or are simply looking for a welcoming and supportive sporting community, the Templars want to hear from you.
As part of the International Gay Rugby movement, the York RI Templars provide a safe, inclusive environment where LGBTQ+ people and allies can enjoy sport, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence, and make lasting friendships.
"Many people are curious about rugby but worry they'll be judged, won't be fit enough, or won't fit in. Our club exists to show that rugby can be for everyone. You don't need any experience – just come along and give it a try."
The Introduction to Rugby session will cover the basics of the game in a relaxed atmosphere, with coaches and experienced players on hand to support newcomers every step of the way.
The club welcomes players of all abilities, backgrounds, genders and identities. No previous rugby experience is required.
Anyone interested in attending can simply turn up on the night or contact the York RI Templars through their social media channels for more information.
