A guided life drawing sanctuary in York. Find presence through the Tingsha bells, the breath, and charcoal. Minimalist. Still. No judgment.
The Experience
Step into a space designed for clarity. PURE is a minimalist life drawing sanctuary held in the light-filled Main Hall of Clements Hall, York. This 8-week summer series offers a rhythmic retreat from the digital world, focusing on the raw beauty of the human form and the meditative flow of drawing.
This is a space for presence, not performance. Whether you are a professional artist or haven’t drawn in years, you are invited to simply observe and create.
The Flow & Stillness
To help everyone find their focus, we observe a shared quiet immersion during the drawing sets.
Ritual & Focus: We use the resonance of Tingsha bells to mark the beginning and end of each pose. Throughout the session, you will be invited to return to the breath - a simple anchor to bring your awareness back to the present moment and the paper before you.
Mindful Presence: While the drawing is in progress, we keep conversation to a minimum. During our breaks, please feel free to move, stretch, and connect with your fellow artists.
Digital Detox: We ask that phones are silenced and kept away to preserve the sanctuary for yourself and others.
What’s Provided
Quality Materials: Premium paper, clipboards, and a selection of high-grade graphite and natural charcoal.
