Congratulations to Carole Bromley, YorkMix‘s Poet In Residence, who has been shortlisted for the 2014 Manchester Writing for Children Prize.

Carole, already a prolific competition prizewinner, is down to the final six of this prestigious international competition.

Entrants were required to submit a portfolio of three to five poems for readers aged from five to 12. The judging panel, led by poet Mandy Coe, included Imtiaz Dharker and Philip Gross.

The other British shortlisted poets are from Kent and Aberdeen. The international shortlisted writers are from Florida, West Virginia and New South Wales.

The result will be announced at Carol Ann Duffy And Friends’ gala prize-giving in Manchester on July 1. The event is the culmination of the Manchester Writing Competition.
