Students at a York stage school were given a masterclass in musical theatre by a West End performer.

Ella Camponi made her debut in London’s West End as part of the cast of Wicked, the hit musical based on the untold stories of the witches of Oz.

She hosted a Wicked The Musical Masterclass at York’s Pauline Quirke Academy based at Huntington School.

Ella, who has performed in many professional pantomimes and played Princess Aurora in the Disney Princess Celebration in Dubai, was extremely impressed with the talent and determination of the students at the academy, said its principal James Aconley.

“We pride ourselves in offering the best possible experiences for our students, and booking Ella to come to work with the children is just one of these experiences,” James said.

“The students really enjoyed the session and there was a fantastic atmosphere at the Academy.”

The Pauline Quirke Academy in York opened at Huntington School in October of last year.
