York man dies as car and tanker collide on A19

A York man died in an early-morning collision on the A19 today (Tuesday November 6).

Officers are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage of the accident near Tollerton which happened at around 7.10am.

It involved a black Volkswagen Passat which was travelling towards Easingwold and a tanker style HGV which was travelling towards York.

Sadly, the driver of the car, a man in his 30s from the York area, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and his family have been informed.

The road remained closed until 2.45pm to allow for a detailed examination of the scene.
