York man, 19, charged with murder – police name dead man

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in York.

Daniel Thomas Reed, of Strensall Road, York, was arrested on Monday (March 6) in connection with the death of a 53-year-old York man.

He has been remanded in custody and was due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (Tuesday).

The dead man has been identified as Shaun Skelton of Chancery House, Holgate Road, York.

A murder investigation was launched after reports of a man with blood on his hands behaving oddly in the early hours on Monday.

The victim’s body was later found in the Holgate Road flat.

Forensic investigators spent much of the day in the flat which was cordoned off. Other police teams visited Fleetways Taxis, who had raised the alarm.
