If you needed any more evidence that we live in the best city, how about this?

Having already been acclaimed ‘the best place to live in Britain’ by the Sunday Times, York now has the best gift shop in the North.

The Gift Gallery in Shambles was named Independent Gift Retailer Of The Year for the North and Northern Ireland 2018.

And that was against tough competition – all the finalists were decided as a result of an industry-wide poll of gift suppliers, reps and agents.

“We were so proud to have reached the finals of such a prestigious award,” said shop owner Kate Everson. “When they called our name as the winner I was in shock!

The Gift Gallery has a new banner and shop display to celebrate

“The Gift Gallery wouldn’t be the shop it is today without the wonderful support of my family, staff, customers, fellow Shambles neighbours and the products from the talented designer makers which we are very honoured to sell.

“We are so proud to be the very first gift shop to ever bring the award back to York and we’ve made a special window display for all of our lovely customers to enjoy and the trophy has pride of place in the window for all to see.”
