It’s not just cats up trees, you know.
Firefighters were called out last night (Monday) to help a dog who had become stuck in a gate in Haxby.
A fire crew from Huntington responded to a call at 6.23pm.
A spokesperson said: “Crews worked with hydraulic cutting equipment to cut away part of the gate. Dog unharmed, left with owners.”
Later in the evening, at 10.39pm, the York crew extinguished two fires in the open.
One was a general rubbish on fire, and the other was old tyres alight. They used hosereels to put them both out.
