From carols to concerts to gigs, we’ve got something for everyone this festive season that’ll be music to your ears.
Time to warm up those vocal cords and get familiar with some carols! Join York St. John university for their annual Christmas Carol Concert in the spectacular surroundings of York Minster. They’ll even be mince pies and mulled wine to enjoy afterwards on the campus! Or perhaps the ever-popular Carols at York Barbican featuring some of the best in local musical talent.
The York Early Music Christmas Festival is back for another year. Sit back and enjoy this festival filled with festive music with guests like The Mellstock Band, Gesualdo Six, and Boxwood & Brass.
Highlights also include Ceruleo’s award-winning show ‘Burying the Dead’. At the St Michael Le Belfrey church will be The Big Christmas Concert, which blends classic Christmas pop with traditonal carols and a brass band in this musical journey.
The Grand Old Uke of York is bringing their sell-out show Ain’t Nothing Like a Dame to York this Christmas. Prepare to hear songs played on the ukulele that you won’t expect! Or head down to the New York Brass Band Christmas Party as they end the year with two hometown gigs. In 2019 they have played the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Glastonbury 2019, Notting Hill Carnival in London and Cork Jazz Festival.
