Woman sexually assaulted in York – police appeal for witnesses

A woman was sexually assaulted on a busy York road at rush hour.

The attack happened on Leeman Road in the city at 5.25pm on Monday (December 21).

The woman was walking down the road when she was approached by a man who sexually assaulted her by touching her through her clothing.

It happened just past the National Railway Museum as the victim was walking out of the city.

Police are carrying out enquiries to identify and locate the suspect, including checking CCTV coverage of the area.

They also ask that anyone who either witnessed the incident or has any other information about the assault, to contact them.
