Woman in her 20s victim of serious sexual assault in York

A woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 10).

Detectives are appealing for witness to the attack. It happened around 2am-2.30am on Haxby Road at the junction of Kitchener Street, York.

The attacker is described as a man in his early thirties, with a bald head and wearing a dark coloured shirt or top.

The victim, a woman in her twenties from York, is being supported by specialist officers.

Police were asking people on Haxby Road if they had seen anything.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who was in the area of Haxby and Kitchener Road between the hours of 1.30am and 2.30am is asked to contact police.
