A woman has been arrested in connection with the attack on a man and his dog on Hob Moor in York.

North Yorkshire Police officers arrested the 51-year-old woman at an address in York at 2.25pm this afternoon (Wednesday).

She was arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated assault and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, in connection with the incident on the evening of Tuesday (9 June).

She was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B drugs.

She remains in custody at this time, while police enquiries continue.

Video footage of the incident, shared on social media and YorkMix, showed the man being abused and spat at, and his dog kicked in the head.

That prompted a number of members of the public to contact the police with information about the incident.

Following the arrest, we have now removed that post and video from our channels.

  1. No comments! Just goes to show the ingrained racism goes deep in York they are getting bolder it used to be lads shouting racist abuse as they drove by in town (cowards) these people are aided and abetted by all those who say nothing and our local court system that provides no justice even for repeat offenders. Nothing will change till institutions are replaced with young and diverse people. Do it soon or things are going to burn in this country and round the world.
