York police are appealing for anyone who was in the racecourse or Millennium Bridge area of the city on Monday afternoon (8 July 2013) to contact them.
Officers are investigating after a woman was assaulted by a man as she road her cycle along the cycle path near the racecourse.
The man punched the woman, causing her to fall from her cycle. She sustained cuts and bruising as a result of the fall.
The suspect then made his way towards the Millennium Bridge area where it is alleged that he began indecently exposing himself to members of the public.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area of the racecourse and the Millennium Bridge between 2pm and 3.30pm and witnessed any of the incidents or saw a man acting suspiciously, to contact them.
The suspect was located with the assistance of members of the public and was arrested by police officers near the Millennium Bridge. Police used a taser during the arrest after the man resisted the first officer at the scene.

The arrested man is aged 23 and from the York area and remains in police custody while the investigation continues.
