It promises to be the brightest, noisiest night you can imagine, packed with pyrotechnics and filled with fun. And you can be there for free if you win our spectacular competition.

We have five sets of family tickets for the Kaboom Firework Party to give away. And if you’re not a lucky winner, you can enjoy 20 per cent off your ticket prices with our special code.

It promises to be an awesome night, featuring fantastic fireworks, marvellous music – and one of the biggest bangs York has ever heard.

A gigantic firework, weighing about three and a half stone, has to be transported separately by special carrier to Rawcliffe Country Park, the site of the Kaboom display.

One of the most powerful pyrotechnics allowed in Britain, it will rocket to 1,800 feet above the crowds, cascading its colourful display a quarter of a mile across.

“Our theme for Kaboom this year is science fiction and superheroes, so we wanted to end the show with the superhero of the firework world,” said Mark Brayshaw, from Kaboom organisers Rockin’ Horse Promotions.

“It will blast into the skies and explode with a sonic boom.

“Watching crowds can also experience its effect in 3D. By wearing special glasses designed to refract light at this year’s show, the audience will feel like they are in the middle of the firework as it showers above them.”

Presented by Jitu Desai, one of the world’s best pyrotechnicians, Kaboom is expected to attract thousands of people. It will also feature a funfair, a Sparkler Park and junior firework display for young children, live entertainment, fire jugglers and carnival performers, and the chance to tuck into traditional bonfire night goodies.
