In politics, on Monday, City of York Council’s executive member for finance will decide on a new scheme offering business rate discounts for certain businesses including pubs.

The delayed progress on the Guildhall is on the agenda on Wednesday. And the scheme to build 625 homes on the former gas works at Heworth Green is debated by the planning committee on Thursday.

The national Liberal Democrats spring conference is held in York from Friday (13-15 March), virus permitting, at York Barbican, and the Novotel and Hilton hotels.

And on Wednesday, many York businesses and residents will be keen to hear what the Chancellor has in store in his the first budget of the Boris Johnson era.
