Police are investigating a car crash which closed a York road.
Emergency services were called out to the collision on at 7.02pm last night (Tuesday).
A car hit parked cars on Water Lane and set on fire.
Firefighters from Acomb witnessed the collision. Crews extinguished the fire and left the incident with police.
No one was injured.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called to a report of a collision on Water Lane, near the junction with Lilbourne Drive, in York, at about 7pm yesterday (26 May).
“A yellow Vauxhall Corsa collided with a parked car and caught fire.
“Officers closed the road to keep people safe, and arranged for local authority engineers to attend to remove debris and make safe exposed wires from street lighting. Recovery was arranged for both damaged cars.
“The occupants of the Corsa left the scene before police arrived. Enquiries to locate them are ongoing.”
Water Lane was closed in both directions while officers dealt with the incident.
A witness told YorkMix: “The driver hit the crossing beacon then ploughed into parked car.
“Then they walked off and left the crime scene.”
