An elderly man was violently attacked in York in broad daylight – and now police have made an arrest in the case.
Earlier this month police issued CCTV of a man they wanted to speak to following the assault in the Baildon Close area of Acomb.
It happened at about 12.20pm on Friday 21 June.
Police described it as a “vicious and unprovoked assault” on a man in his 80s, who was punched in the face three times, and pushed to the ground.
The victim was left with facial cuts and bruises, which required treatment at York Hospital.
Today (15 July), North Yorkshire Police revealed a breakthrough in the case:
Thank you to everyone who shared our CCTV appeal to identify a man we wanted to talk to about the assault of an 80-year-old man in York on 21 June.
The man has identified, arrested and charged and is due in court on 29 July.
