Two police officers were assaulted in York on Friday night (November 17).
On Twitter @PC541NYP stated:
-
Such a busy and demanding night shift for band 2 in York.
Violence, damage, RTCs, public order… you name it we’ve dealt with it.
My colleague and I were also assaulted at an incident involving a drunk male – we are both fine but it simply isn’t acceptable.
The message drew a robust response from North Yorkshire Police Deputy Chief Constable Phil Cain: “Thank you for all the hard work overnight.
“Hopefully the new protect the protectors legislation will make a difference in courts.”
He said Chief Constable Lisa Winward “ensures a statement accompanies files for assaulted officers and staff to highlight the impact on those who are working to keep others safe”.
Huuuuge mention to @NYPControlRoom @NYPRoadCrime @NYPFirearmsUnit @NYorksRPG for everyone’s help to get through the evening! #teamNYP https://t.co/VO4kZs5ipv
