Two men with a knife were disturbed breaking into a house in York.
At around 9.50pm on Sunday, October 19, one of the occupants of a shared house on Surtees Street, Clifton, returned home to find that a ground floor bedroom door had been forced open.
As he went to investigate further two men came down the stairs and left the house via the back door.
Descriptions of the men
One of the men was
- white
- 5ft 5in tall
- with a stocky build.
He was wearing
- black clothing
- gloves
- a hooded-top with the hood up
- and a black scarf covering the bottom half of his face.
The second man is described as
- 5ft 8in tall
- with a big build.
He was wearing
- a grey or white top
- and tracksuit bottoms similar in colour to his top.
It was the first man who was carrying the knife. He did not threaten the victim with it.
The men stole a new iPhone 5 from a bedroom in the house.
Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the burglary to contact them as soon as possible.
Detective Constable Kevin Goodman, of York CID, said: “Fortunately the victim was not hurt in this incident but he was left very scared by the experience.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers.”
