Evidence of a major Anglo-Saxon settlement on the site of York Minster has been uncovered by archaeologists. “We struck gold – or actually silver – by finding Viking-Age human bones, Norman foundations and an extremely rare Anglo-Saxon coin that reveals a huge amount about York during the early 9th century,” said the Minster’s cathedral archaeologist.
