Issued by City of York Council
City of York Council has teamed up with York Science Park to welcome highly regarded speakers to share their knowledge with York firms over a free business lunch on Thursday 5 September.
The event will see Jonathan Mitchener and Nick Bassett speak to York firms about their experiences with The Technology Strategy Board.
The Government backed Technology Strategy Board drives high-impact investments in innovation projects and businesses across the UK, with a headline budget of £500m a year.
The speakers will deliver a 45 minute presentation about the Technology Strategy Board’s portfolio of support and funding products to help Small and Medium Enterprises at different stages in their innovation journey, followed by a question and answer session.
Labour Leader of City of York Council Councillor James Alexander said: “York has a really vibrant digital and creative industries sector and there is now a cluster of firms in the city designing cutting edge software for business.
“This embracing of technology was recently shown in the city welcoming a new hologram app, which is among the first of its kind. The city is also a leader in biorenewables and green technology.
“I’m pleased we’ve managed to attract speakers of Jonathan and Nick’s calibre to meet these firms and encourage growth in the city, something which is very important to the council.”
The lunch will be held on Thursday 5 September, noon to 1pm at the Innovation Centre, York Science Park.
Firms in the biorenewables and green technology sectors, digital and creative business owners, finance directors, start-ups and entrepreneurs are encouraged to drop in, or come along with specific questions for Jonathan and Nick.
