Britain’s number one country act are comprised of singer-songwriters Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes.

Their debut album Brave became the first UK country act to chart in the top 10 of the UK album charts in 2015. The Shires have appeared in a string of high-profile TV shows including Graham Norton, BBC Music Awards, Children in Need Rocks and many more.

Badly Drawn Boy

British indie icon Badly Drawn Boy – real name Damon Gough – will be bringing his genius alternative pop to Knavesmire.

It was June 2000 when the Mercury Prize-winning The Hour of the Bewilderbeast announced his arrival.

Since then, Badly Drawn has gone on to release four subsequent studio albums, spawning a wave of chart-topping UK indie hits that include the likes of Once Around The Block, You Were Right and the beautiful, melancholic ensemble that is The Shining.

The comedy

Jason Manford’s Comedy Club, curated by the great funny man himself, will head to Yorfest for its first festival showing of 2017.

Housed in a seated marquee on the site, the club will stage three two-hour comedy shows throughout the day.

Manford’s Comedy Club was launched by comedian Jason Manford and his brother Colin just over two years ago.

The idea was to bring comedians from the UK circuit to small towns and cities across the country for a night of live comedy.

The Yorfest shows feature Allyson June Smith, Cal Halbert and Chris Washington, among many others.

Bands and stages

There’s lots for the youngsters to do at Yorfest. The event features facepainting and other stalls, plus a helter skelter, merry-go-round, and chair-o-plane – a 1920s swing ride.

And you can tuck in to all manner of street food from waffles to hot dogs to pizza.

Have fun!
