It sounded like a potential major incident.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service were contacted by a householder who reported “a loud bang, a roaring noise and haze” inside a York home.

Crews from Acomb, York and Huntington were dispatched at 7.22pm on Wednesday (November 21).

Fortunately, however the ‘explosion’ was nothing serious. A brigade spokesperson reported:

  • However, nothing more than a potential seven years bad luck was the result after crews discovered that a mirror had fallen in the bathroom onto taps below causing the ‘roaring noise’ and haze.
