Three people were rescued from the river in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police were alerted to the incident via City of York Council CCTV cameras.
The fire service was called at 4.18am and sent a crew from York and launched the brigade rescue boat.
They rescued two women and one man from the River Ouse close to Ouse Bridge.
The three were left in the hands of paramedics for further checks.
Police said on Twitter this morning: “Happy to report that no persons were seriously injured and council cameras were able to alert police prior to an emergency call even being made.
“Top teamwork by all involved.”
