Three people have been arrested following a series of shop thefts in York.
Police responded to reports of the theft of meat from the Co-op supermarket on East Parade in Heworth at 8.40pm on Friday (April 21).
Officers carried out a search in the area. Three suspects were located nearby and were arrested on suspicion of shop theft.
Court date set
Following further enquiries, the three were also arrested on suspicion of further thefts of hundreds of pounds of meat and Champagne from Marks and Spencer’s on Lawrence Street.
A 34-year-old man from York has been charged with four shop thefts and one theft of a bicycle.
A 35-year-old woman from York has been charged with two shop thefts and a 35-year-old man has also been charged with two shop thefts.
They are scheduled to appear at York Magistrates on Monday, May 8.
