One of York’s best days out bounces back this summer.
The Micklegate Run Soapbox Challenge returns for a third year on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26 2019.
Entries are now open for teams to take part – and if you’d like to sponsor an event that attracted 20,000 spectators last year, and reached hundreds of thousands more on social media, the organisers would like to hear from you too.
The soapbox challenge sees daredevils in home-made carts hurtle down the cobbles of York’s royal street, hoping to be crowned champions.
It’s a day of bumps and jumps, spills and thrills – and it all comes at the perfect Yorkshire admission price: free.
Apply now
Race organisers are looking for 50 spectacular but fun soapbox carts to take part. They would love applications from charities, schools, small businesses, corporate businesses and individuals.
You need to be able to design and build your own cart. Entry prices start at £200, and you have to pledge to raise money for your chosen charity or that of the organisers, yet to be revealed.
