A young man has been found dead at his home in York.

The man’s body was discovered after the emergency services broke into his house in the Limes Court student accommodation off Heworth Road on Wednesday afternoon (March 9).

Paramedics and police were called at 3.21pm to the address, following a call raising concerns about a man’s welfare.

A police spokeswoman said:

After gaining entry, the man, aged in his late teens, was pronounced dead and enquiries are on-going to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the death.

There is nothing at this stage to suggest the death is suspicious.

‘Very sudden’

Limes Court provides accommodation for first-year students at York St John University, who are typically aged either 18 or 19.

Tonight a young neighbour of the dead man said everyone was shocked.

“It was very sudden,” he said. “I knew him to say hello to. The house is empty now.”

The property is only yards from the house that belonged to Claudia Lawrence, although there is nothing connecting this tragedy to her disappearance.

Police say a report is being prepared for the coroner.
