Short film fest
This weekend sees the climax of the Aesthetica Short Film Festival, celebrating independent films across the globe. The festival has partnered London College of Fashion this year to explore fashion in cinema. Running at 15 venues across York, ASFF runs until Sun, Nov 9 at 7pm.
Jim Davidson OBE is coming to the Grand Opera House this Sunday, Nov 9 with his tour ‘No Further Action’. Jim is well known across Britain for his stand up routines and hosting of TV shows Generation Game and Big Break. Take this chance to see this Celebrity Big Brother survivor in action from 7.30pm.
York Musical Society is one of the oldest in the country, and this Saturday, Nov 8 from 7.30pm they will be performing Verdi’s Requiem with Saint Michael’s Singers Coventry in the stunning interior of York Minster. First performed in 1874 and now by a choir of over 200, this is set to be an impressive concert.
York City in the FA Cup
Head to Bootham Crescent this Saturday, Nov 8 from 3pm to witness York City take on AFC Wimbledon in the first round of the FA Cup. Two years ago, AFC Wimbledon squeaked past City 4-3 after a replay and extra time – see above – so the Minstermen will be looking for revenge.
York Firework Spectacular 2014
Fancy a belated firework night? Save yourself the hassle of hosting your own event and head along to Rawcliffe Country Park this Saturday, Nov 8 from 6.30 – 8.30pm. The event raises money for The Firefighters’ Charity, and includes a pipe band and a hog roast alongside the pyrotechnics.
York Does Vintage Wedding
