York Does Vintage Christmas

Get yourself ready for the festive season with the city’s most popular quirky fashion fair York Does Vintage. Set in the wonderful Merchant Adventurer’s Hall, this combination of vintage stalls, tea room, live music and pop-up beauty parlour will brighten up your weekend this Sunday, Nov 2 from 10.30am – 4.30pm.

Helver’s Night

A joint production by York Theatre Royal and Company of Angels, Helver’s Night follows the journey of Carla and her young charge Helver. Helver is obsessed with the bravura of the fascism movement and when a violent occupation of his town threatens to consume him, will he become a victim of his fascination or will he let it pass him by?

Runs until Saturday, Nov 8.

Les Miserables

Immerse yourself in this classic tale of 19th century France where Jean Valjean is released from prison after 19 years and finds a less than desirable life waiting for him. Join the Joseph Rowntree Theatre and York Light Youth in their musical romp through romance, revolution and redemption this Friday, Oct 31 – Saturday, Nov 8 at 7.30pm.

The Exorcist

Known as one of the most terrifying films to ever grace our screens, City Screen York hosts a Halloween special of The Exorcist, originally released in 1973. Famous for playing this role, Linda Blair is 12 year old Regan whose body is possessed by the devil. Her mother is forced to seek help from two priests to save her. This Friday, Oct 31 at 9pm.

Brothers of Soul

Treat yourself this Saturday, Nov 1 with Brothers of Soul – a tribute band to all things Motown, including The Four Tops, The Temptations and The Drifters. Head along to York Racecourse this weekend to party in style singing songs such as Just My Imagination and My Girl.

Foster and Allen

York Barbican welcomes Irish folk duo Foster and Allen this Friday, Oct 31 from 7.30pm. Having sold over 18 million records, this tour ties in with their recent release of Gold and Silver Days on Oct 6 and shows just how strong their friendship has lasted, and how their music continues to be successful throughout the world.
