They have held stadiums in the palm of their hand. Lemmy, Thom Yorke, Johnny Marr, Ian Brown – rock gods, one and all.
And what links them together is Ami Barwell, the York photographer who has captured their power, charm and vulnerability in a series of stunning portraits.
You can enjoy a selection of them at an exhibition at the Fossgate Social from October 3 to November 30th.
Ami, pictured, has been a music photographer for 15 years.
She has worked with all major record labels and her images have featured in the likes of Mojo, Rolling Stone, NME, GQ, Uncut, The Sunday Times, Kerrang! and Vogue.
New York Dolls called her work “friggin’ awesome”, Ben Sherman was “blown away” by them and The Killers’ testimonial was: “HOTT photos… and you have Rad hair!”
You’ll see what they mean with this selection. Click on an image for the full picture.
