A drunk attacked a goose in York city centre, kicking it so hard that witnesses believe he broke its leg.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday (August 15) on Kings Staith by the River Ouse.
It was seen by volunteers from York Rescue Boat, who described one man repeatedly kicking the bird on the riverside outside The Lowther pub.
They put this message on Twitter: “Drunken idiots kicked this goose and broke its leg on Kings Staith.”
The volunteers added:
RSPCA officers have been contacted and were sending an officer to investigate on Saturday morning.
The incident comes in a summer where the amount of drunken behaviour at York at the weekends has made national headlines.
