Flipping Pancake Day’s back!

The time of year has come around once again where we are given the green-light to feast on delicious pancakes.

But if you don’t fancy making your own this year, or like them on other days than Shrove Tuesday, here are some of the best places in York to enjoy pancakes.

Brew and Brownie

Known for its amazing coffee and scrummy breakfasts, Brew and Brownie is an extremely popular coffee shop situated opposite Museum Gardens. Inspired by the seasons, they offer a range of American pancake stacks which are served all day.

Our favourite: Stack with banana & salted caramel, Nutella or golden syrup for £7.50.

Double Dutch Pancake House

The clue is in the name! The Dutch pancake house offers a wide range of scrummy pancakes from sweet to savoury, vegan and gluten free, and you can even design your own. Made using an authentic Dutch recipe and organic produce, these pancakes are the real McCoy. Students also get 10% discount with a valid card.

Our favourite: Rocky road – Crushed Oreo biscuits, mini marshmallows and almonds smothered in chocolate sauce for £7.95.

From strawberries, blueberries and banana or smoked streaky bacon, Bills Buttermilk Pancakes are the perfect pancake treat. As either a stack of 3 or 5, these pancakes each come with a delicious bills pancake syrup all for under £10.

This modern coffee shop offers an amazing pancake stack for £6.50. With gluten free options available, you can choose from a range toppings all served with a choice or honey or maple syrup.

Our favourite: Bacon with maple syrup for £6.50.

Cosy Club

Home to good food, drink and quirky décor, the Cosy Club also offers amazing buttermilk pancakes for £1.25 each. With a range of toppings to choose from including Nutella, ice cream or rasberry puree, you can add as many toppings as you like.

Our favourite: One Berry Compote and crème fraiche for £2.75.

Spring Espresso

Recognised for its artisan coffee from award-winning baristas, Spring Espresso is a favourite twice over in York, thanks to its two locations in the city centre. With a pancake section to their menu, they offer a range of toppings including vegetarian options.

Our favourite: Nutella, banana and choc chip for £6.25.

The Blue Barbakan

This small independent business, recently moved from Walmgate into the former Blue Bicycle on Foss Bridge, takes inspiration from Eastern Europe and presents it in a Western European style. On their breakfast menu they are offering American pancakes at price of £8.75 with either maple syrup or fruit, with the option to at bacon for an extra £1.50.
