Serious sexual assault in York city centre – two arrested

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of serious sexual assault in York city centre.

The incident occurred in the Bootham and Marygate area at around 10pm on Sunday.

The victim, a local woman, is receiving specialist support while enquiries continue.

Police are appealing for witnesses

The arrested men, both from York, are being held in custody for questioning.
