The Civic Party helped to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the York Residents Federation at an event which took place at West Offices on Thursday 26 September.
The federation is an umbrella group made up of representatives from Residents’ Associations around York. It aims to promote the interests of residents and their right to be involved in developing policies on housing and other issues. Over the years it has supported existing associations as well as encouraging new ones to be set up.
The celebratory event, which was attended by invited guests, which included speeches from Sally Burns, Director of Communities and Neighbourhoods at City of York Council, Steve Waddington, Assistant Director of Housing and Public Protection at City of York Council and Terry McLaughlin, Chair of the Residents Federation.
The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Julie Gunnell said: “I was delighted to attend this celebratory event which to commemorated 25 years in which the federation has supported residents and worked with City of York Council to make York a better place.
The hard work of the federation can only be praised and it was well worthy of the event in West Offices which I thoroughly enjoyed.”
