Sandwich shop Pret a Manger has set a date to reopen in York city centre.

The shop, on Parliament Street, has been closed throughout the lockdown.

But it will reopen on 1 June. A sign in the window says:

  • Dear customers,

We are happy to announce that we will be opening on 01 June.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

    Team York

Pret has gradually been reopening its shops around the country.

CEO Pano Christou said: “The Pret experience for both our customers and teams will continue to feel very different.

Soon be back… the sign in the window

“For example, each shop will be fitted with Perspex screens at the tills, we will restrict the number of customers in our shops, we’ll provide hand sanitiser for customers, and face coverings to our team members who prefer to wear one.

“I want to say another very big thank you to our amazing teams who are coming back to work to make it all happen.”
