Hundreds of homes in York have lost power.

The power cut is affecting more than 2,000 properties.

Three postcodes are affected.

In YO10 – Fulford – and YO19 – around the Naburn area, 1,470 properties are hit by a power cut reported at 7.29pm. It has been caused by a problem with cables.

One resident reported on social media a “big green flash” near the York Designer Outlet.

Northern Powergrid engineers are working to get the lights back on, and hope to have done so by 9pm.

And in YO23 – the South Bank area – 200 homes are hit by an outage reported at 6.24pm. Again a cable fault is said to be the problem, and they estimate restoring power by 8pm.
