Police are asking for help tracing a black Peugeot 206 after a member of the public reported seeing a distressed woman get into it.
The incident happened at about 9am on Monday, December 2 on Bad Bargain Lane, York. The car, registration number BV52 FLE, then drove off towards Ashleigh Park.
Worried about the woman, a member of the public called the police.
Officers are anxious to confirm the woman is safe and well. However, after extensive enquiries throughout the day they have yet to trace the vehicle or the occupants.
It is possible that the there is an innocent explanation surrounding the incident.
Police are asking members of the public to call them if they have seen the vehicle today or know where it is now.
They are also appealing for the occupants of the car to get in touch if they see or read this appeal.
Anyone with any information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and talk to the Force Control Room.
If you see the car, you are asked to call 999.
