The man whose body was found behind a York restaurant is yet to be formally identified, police said today (Wednesday).
And officers say the cause of his death remains unexplained.
Police were alerted to the body by a call from the ambulance service on Tuesday (25 September) at about 8.30am.
It was in a small courtyard to the rear of the Press Kitchen on Walmgate.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said today:

Police inquiries are ongoing to formally identify the man and to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, which remains unexplained.
Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the sudden death investigation is asked to call North Yorkshire Police.
Restaurant reopens
The Press Kitchen was closed yesterday.
But it reopened today. The restaurant’s Facebook page said: “A huge thank you to North Yorkshire Police for handling a very difficult and sad situation yesterday.
“All our staff are OK and we are back open as of today.”
