A woman suffered a suspected broken nose after she was attacked at York Railway Station at rush hour.
Police were called to a violent incident at the station just before 6pm on Thursday (March 2).
An officer at the scene described it as “what appears to be an unprovoked incident”.
Other injuries suffered by the woman, aged in her 40s, included swelling and bruising to her face and emotional trauma.
Man arrested
The officer thanked members of the public for helping the victim, as well as colleagues at British Transport Police.
A man in his 40s of no fixed address was arrested near Lendal Bridge and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a woman.
He was remanded to appear in front of York magistrates on Friday (March 3).
