A woman has been seriously hurt in a collision with a lorry in York today (Friday).
The woman pedestrian, in her 80s, was hit by the truck on Parliament Street close to its junction with Market Street just before 10am.
Police cordoned off a section of Parliament Street behind the St Nicholas Fair stalls.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said:
Police are attending Parliament Street, York, following reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian.
Officers were called just before 10am today and currently remain at the scene.
An ambulance was also called and a woman in her 80s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently ongoing.

Several police cars and an ambulance attended.
A woman who witnessed what happened, but did not want to be named, told YorkMix that the injured woman was cutting across Parliament Street from the fair when she was hit.
“The truck driver just didn’t see her,” she said.
“My husband managed to stop him otherwise it could have been even worse. It was a total accident.”
The Bidvest Logistics truck and the cordon was likely to remain on Parliament Street for some time, police said.
